About Me
This is my Sixth year teaching and I am delighted to be back teaching in Troy. I have a BM in Viola Performance from Michigan State University, where I studied the Viola with Yuri Gandelsman and was the recipient of the Romeo Tata Graduate Fellowship, Virginia Mills and Douglas F. Jewell Endowed Dean’s Scholarship, and Camille McKinley Endowment for the MSU Orchestras. While completing my performance degree I became interested in teaching music and decided to also complete a BM in Music Education.
I was born in Iowa, but moved to the Chicago suburbs when I began middle school. Being in that area provided many opportunities for me, as a musician. I was also in a youth orchestra when I was in HS, called Midwest Young Artists. I played orchestra and chamber music there, and it became my second family. I am a member of the Lansing, and Ann Arbor Symphonies and though I began as a violinist, my heart is with the viola. I love teaching musicians of all ages and abilities, but something about making music with younger musicians really inspires me. If I can help young musicians build their musical foundation then they will be on track to becoming life long musicians!!!
